Current status
No articles have been published yet, so no corrections have been made and this log is empty. Rather than present an empty table as though it were a record, the format and the rules are described here so that the log is ready to be used from the first published article.
What is recorded
- The date of the change.
- The article affected, by title.
- What was wrong or changed, described in a sentence or two.
- The source used to establish the correction.
- Whether the report came from a reader.
What is not recorded
- Spelling and typographical fixes that do not change meaning.
- Changes of wording made for consistency or tone.
- Links moved to a new URL.
- Removal of content that was never published.
How to read an entry
A correction is a statement that a published claim was wrong. It is recorded rather than quietly amended, because a reader who relied on the original wording should be able to see that it changed and to judge the correction themselves. Where an error changed a conclusion rather than a detail, the entry says so explicitly.
The policy governing all of this is the corrections policy.
Reporting an error
See the contact page. A report that identifies the article, the claim and a source is acted on much faster than one that only says something looks wrong.
